Satisfaction guarantee is a myth

Ordered 4 pleated shades- one was at least 1 1/2 inch short. Both shades were too narrow for the side by side windows.

Called immediately a nd was told to take a picture and send it, which is what I did. Ordered two new shades and wondered who is going to pay for shipping wrong ones back. I was told that I would be credited for both then when I called to ask about shipping costs I was told that they would call me within 24 hours to let me know. Two days later I had to call them.

Was told they would call me back. ?????

I guess they are not to anxious to admit they screwed up. This will be the last time I use them.

Poor Quality; Careless Packaging

My blinds arrived with no instructions. Not one of the six boxes of faux wood horizontal blinds had instructions enclosed. They are online, but computer access at the time of installation should not be assumed. Also, there are no instructions for the valances. The average person can probably figure it out, but again, that should not be assumed. I had to buy drywall screws because they sent wood screws. It makes a tremendous difference. For the amount of money spent, they should ask if the brackets will be attached to wood or drywall. One of my packages had no center bracket. For 52" blinds, this is essential. Above all of this, several of the six blinds I installed simply do not close properly, and a few of the slats are uneven. They are installed correctly--I know how to install them. But quite frankly, my off-the-shelf faux wood blinds from Home Depot are better constructed. I will not order from SB again. I wish I had read these reviews before I ordered.

Total Disaster - Worst After Sales Service Ever

I ordered two blinds from Select Blinds. They arrived so swiftly that I couldn't believe they could have been specially made. There were three things wrong - the measurements, the colour and the lack of vanes. SelectBlinds refused to admit responsibility or even apologize for their mistakes. I am left with two blinds that don't fit, are the wrong colour and don't have enough vanes to cover the space. Customer Service also refuses to pick them up and change them. I have contacted them several times but they haven't helped me at all. The worst service I have ever encountered from any company.

Ordered three blinds, missing parts in one

Having ordered one blind from Select Blinds and was pleased with price and look, we decided to order three more. When they arrived one of the blinds was missing parts. I e-mailed the company and received prompt response that they were sorry and that they would send the missing parts out. Another e-mail and they wanted picture of area that parts were missing. Another e-mail, thank you for picture we will send parts ASAP. Another email and we need picture of missing part. I have now installed the two blinds that have the parts. They are behind furniture and you need an 8 foot ladder to get to the blinds. I send e-mail stating this and describing in detail what part is missing and where it is located, only to receive another e-mail that our production crew can't figure out what part and need picture of missing part. If you are following this if I had only ordered one blind how could I take a picture of a part that is not there. If you have a problem with this company good luck.

I did not realize that the blinds ordered are 'custom' and as such not returnable.

I ordered these blinds online and had at least 3 e-chats with the Select Blinds customer service. My question was 'why do you take so long to ship?' I was NEVER told that these blinds are custom made and not returnable unless you order the samples before placing your order. I never really got a response to my question. When I called to see about returning I was told that these are custom made. It seems that you have to carefully read the terms of agreement to know that. Or, you can click on the link to the 90 day unconditional guarantee, I could get ZERO satisfaction from the customer service person who said that 'everyone knows'. I asked if I was the only one who had ever called without that understanding and she said 'no, but now very many don't know these are not returnable. BUYERS BEWARE! I would NEVER order from Select Blinds again!

TERRIBLE customer service! I asked to speak to a manager since so that I could get a shipping label to return the shades that I asked NOT to be sent to me but I was told that he was too busy to come to the phone to speak to me. I said that I would stay on the line until he was available because I wanted to settle the issue and so that I could go to another online window coverings store since I was not happy w/selectblinds.com. Since it was black Friday the sales would end that evening so I wanted to take care of this right away. The manager never came to the phone. This is by far the worst customer service that I have ever received in my life. They're attitude was NOT at all trying to keep a customer happy. It was the exact opposite. I have never written a negative review but because of such a horrible experience, I had to let others know. Also the order form on website for the "cordless" section is misleading. It should only be cordless but apparently it still has to be selected to be cordless. Otherwise they will send you a corded one. I would never shop at SelectBlinds.com again! Here is a list of other better places to shop: http://www.topconsumerreviews.com/window-blinds/

DO NOT buy from Select Blinds

I bought a bamboo blind from select blinds for my bathroom. The blind was fine for 4 months, then it started to mildew. I took it down and cleaned with Clorox. Within a few days the mildew was coming back. I called Select Blinds and they wanted pics which I sent. After days of trying to get a response, I was finally told that there is nothing that they can do because the blind is in a bathroom. I have had wood blinds from Home Depot and Walmart in there for the last 15 years-------none of these blinds ever warped, molded or mildewed. Nowhere on their website does it state that their blinds can't be hung in a bathroom. Select Blinds have defective products with no warranty!!!

I don't know what you paid, but might be worth buying some clear stain and coat them with a layer or two. Since you're stuck woth them, might as well try to resolve on your own.

Thanks. I found out there is some type of wood sealer that I can get at Home Depot. Guess I will try that.

SELECTive hearing/BLIND to complaint

I liked the wood blind I purchased through Select Blinds. After a month, I noticed the paint bubbling/peeling up in several areas. It had become wet during a thunderstorm several days prior and had been wiped off. I contacted Select Blinds and was informed that wood blinds must NEVER get wet. Okay, I wish I'd known that when I ordered, as I'd have gone with the faux wood. Who HASN'T had their window treatments get wet with rain at some time or other? I asked the company WHERE on the website such information is given to consumers. I had looked and looked for this important information and did not find it. Surprise....NO REPLY. I emailed again and asked if there were another person in the company I could contact who had the time to answer my inquiry... Surprise...NO REPLY. Guess what? I could not find my review on their website. No wonder they have such a high rating. The not-so-rave-reviews make like a magician and magically disappear. I am fortunate in that I only purchased one lousy(yes, it was lousy) blind. I had never even asked for my money back, but being brushed off totally angered me. It's easy to get my money's worth by posting the TRUTH about my experience wherever I can so that consumers can make informed decisions. SO....DO NOT choose to put WOOD BLINDS in an area where there's a possibility of becoming wet at some point and DO NOT buy through Select Blinds.

Select blinds scams consumers

Dear Stephen, Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience. We are sending your replacement part(s) immediately. You should receive this package within 3-5 business days. Please let us know if we can be of further service. Original Message Follows: Received the mini-blind today and installed it to find it does not work correctly. Also I'm told by your customer service person that they are not designed to shut tight with the front edge angled up as is necessary to keep the sun out. This one doesn't shut tight in either direction. The $10.00 one I had up there from wal-mart did. I want to send it back, I'm not happy with it for both of these reasons but I'm told because I didn't order free samples first you will not honor your supposed 100% money back guarantee. 100% money back guarantee doesn't mean you skip out on a technicality. It means when a customer isn't happy and offers to ship it back you give them their money back. That policy of yours is a cheap trick to steal peoples money. Swatches do not even enter into it, the color is not the problem. All you can do for me is replace the part inside but the thing still won't work the way it should. Why on Earth would you make then so they only close one way? Arent they supposed to keep the sun out? I have five more windows I won't be putting your blinds in. Thats the story, what a scam. 100% money back guarantee, but you better read the fine print.

SATISFACTION GUARANTEE YEAH RIGHT!!!

Select Blinds - SATISFACTION GUARANTEE YEAH RIGHT!!!
I ordered a sample of the colors that they have for there blinds and we went and matched it up with our floors to make sure that they were the right ones. When we received the blinds they were red instead of dark brown. When I called customer service I was on the phone for 1hour and 25 min all to find out that they were not going to help me at all. They asked me to send them a picture and they said it is not there sample which is kinda funny cause it is the only website that I went to. At this time I only have 5 sets of blinds i tried to cancel the remaining 16 that are still on order and they told me to bad can't do it. I would never recommend this Company to anyone at anytime for anything!!!!!

The dark sample is actually mahogany not black, but either way the picture really doesn't matter when you order blinds with the code number on the back of the sample that's is the color you should get regardless of if you think it's red or brown should have been mahogany

I had a really good experience with Select Blinds.

I have ordered from them 3 times in the last few years.

In the last order I recieved from them, I did not like how the narrow slat blinds looked on my front room window. I called them to try to return them, and reorder the wider slat blinds.

They accepted return of my blinds as long as I paid the shipping charges.......I was surprised because the blinds were a custom order. I thought they would give me a credit with their store, but then found out they had reimbursed my credit card the full amount I paid for the blinds. I then reorsdered the blinds I wanted.

I thought that this was just great. Very positive experience with Select Blinds.

Do NOT order from Select Blinds

This company is a rip off and scam. I ordered blinds that were overpriced using their online ordering system. I ordered top-down bottom-up blinds from their site only to recieve the wrong shade and color. When contacting their customer service which is outsourced from a company in California I got nothing but rude responses trying to put the blame on me. I requested an update on two different occasions and was told I would get priority service and a response right away. I never received any call backs and only after several harassing phone calls to the company did I finally get someone to respond. Three weeks later and they still have not fixed the problem and they are never responsive and are a horrible company.

Blackout shades do not block all the light

Beware. Total blackout shades do not block all the light. The shades that came in are 1/2" shorter in width than what i measured and they DO NOT come with any sort of rails to block the sides. Sun shines through the sides with no shame. Spoke to customer service and they do not do anything about the issue saying that this particular color sample was not ordered 90 days prior. My issue is not the color. It is in fact that they let light into the room. VERY disappointed with the shades. Will never order from them again.

Terrible Customer Service!

Updated by user May 31, 2013

I continued to try and get this company to right this problem, and they never did. Dozens of emails, and lie after lie. RUN from this company they are TOTALLY AWFUL to deal with!

Original review Feb 20, 2013
Ordered $700.00 in blinds - some were fine, but some were not. A few of the problems were fixed by them, but a major problem was not. I ordered 5 blinds for my sons room that were supposed to be quite opaque. 3 came in 1 fabric, and 2 were made in another. No matter how hard I tried to convey this to them through emails and photos they could not correct this simple problem. The complete lack of communication with upper management who should have stepped in long before was super frustrating! Would never recommend this company.

The WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER

I purchased 9 blinds at a cost of $370.00 which I think is reasonable. When I received them they were all about an inch too big. I called customer service and they said no problem, Just send them back and we will give you a credit and you can reorder the correct size.so I sent them back and waited. No credit. I called and asked why I haven't received my credit. I was accused of making up my Return Authorization Number and sending them back to the wrong address and that I wasn't getting my money back! They are the ones that gave me the RMA and the incorrect address. This nonsense went on for more then a month before I just did a charge back. Terrible customer service!

Wish I had read this before I ordered my 4 cellular shades, in my case they were not wide enough, we followed the directions exactly, ordered on the phone they say there is a 100% satisfaction guarantee! How could you lose?

Horribly rude n the man who took my order was incredibly nice.

I wanted to return them and they refused to provide an address to return them to, so much more but this company has exhausted me. I filed a complaint with my credit card company.

Rip Off!

I've had a really unjust experience with Select Blinds!!! In short: I ordered blinds from them according to the tab on their webpage entitled "How to Measure" In the end it turns out that their own webpage omitted important information contained on another page that is NOT referenced on the "how to measure" page. The company then blamed me when the blinds did not fit!! This company does not do business in good faith! Please beware, this is NOT a company to trust.

Whole Story: All started out well and my order came quickly. However, when I went to hang the blinds I found that each blind was 1" larger than I ordered and would not fit.

So, I contacted the company and Simas was very helpful, telling me to take a photo of the blinds with a tape measure. I did and here was his response: "Thank you for the photos. They were perfect! I have forwarded them to the manufacturer and requested they remake them correctly for you. I am pretty sure they will let you keep these shades but please don't get rid of these until you have the replacements. I will let you know what the manufacturer says." Later that day he responded: "The manufacturer has approved remaking your shades. Have a great day!"

I wanted to be sure that I had measured and done all correctly so I replied and asked for clarification: "Fantastic!!! Just to make sure: When you measure for the blinds with an outside mount, continuous loop do they add on for the valance (hope not!)? It was my understanding that the width dimension I enter is for the shade AND the valance." Simas replied, "The width you order will be the width you get. The height is from the top of the headrail to the bottom of the bottom fabric. Hope this helps!"

Three days later as I'm awaiting my replacement shades I get the following email: "Upon further research of the remake, the manufacturer and we have found out that Outside mount shades made with a continuous cord loop will come about an inch wider to accommodate the controls. This information is stated in the product info tab on our website. The roman shades you ordered were made correctly."

I was dumbfounded and told him the steps that I went through on their website to obtain the measurements. I followed the link contained on their webpage for "specifications" for the type of blind I ordered. Nowhere did it say on their HOW TO MEASURE PAGE for this specific blind that they add an inch on!!! The only reference to measurements on this page is, "*width and length measurements may vary +/- 1/8" If you go to the page where the blinds are described, it does say they add an inch but I didn't use that page, I used the page entitled how to measure. It turns out these instructions were inaccurate. How is it my fault that their website omitted important information? I shouldn't have to scour their website to get accurate information.

After appealing to them regarding their erroneous website I was told "As per our managers and the manufacturer, this will have to be considered a mis-measure. It is stated under your specific product that "Outside mount shades ordered with top down bottom up and continuous cord loop will be 1" wider than the width ordered." Since this is stated under the product specifications, we have made it correctly and would only be able to remake the shade for you at a 50% discount as stated under our policy for mis-measures. You would be able to donate the shades you have now to a charity like Habitat for Humanity and write it off on your taxes to get your money back. I apologize but this is the information I was told to forward to you".

Their own representative did not know that an inch is added and their own "How to Measure" instructions on their website with specifications for these particular blinds omitted this information, but they are not responsible for the mis-measure???? It all sounds like another company that no one out there should trust. Oh and when is the last time one could "get your money back" by donating to a charity??? Come on! Maybe we should all spend the day going through our closets, donating what no longer works for us and use that money to go shopping for a new wardrobe…really????

Totally agree. Select blinds sells blinds that look entirely different from pictures, have colors that don't match between the blind and the head rail, and have horrible customer service.

I have also spoken with Simas, whom I suspect is actually not a human being but just a bot.

I will never order from them again. Which is a shame for them cause I have about 15 more blinds in my house that I will be replacing
